Gaining Support

Life lately has been hectic, energizing, hope-filled, and a great many other things. We are still in Childress, TX doing youth ministry at the Childress Church of Christ that we have called both family and home these past 7 years. It truly is a special place. It takes two hours to get anywhere from our city limits, it rains very little, and some would say there isn’t much to do in this small town. But we love it and feel immensely blessed God placed us here. In ways, it feels like only a few months ago we were moving in and making introductions. While at the same time, it feels like we’ve always been here. There are so many reasons to love Childress. We don’t want to leave this place of depth and richness. Yet, the Lord has made himself clear - the time to uproot is coming. 

He has called us to encourage teenagers and college students toward holy relationships. We’ve been doing speaking engagements on the side the past few years and God has put it on our hearts to jump in and watch the work grow as we go. Risky? Yep. Scary? Absolutely. But we are confident that if God is leading us to it, He has a plan to lead us through it. So, in the words of Bilbo Baggins: “We’re going on an adventure!” 

The past 3 months have been busy working tirelessly to keep our feet firmly on the ground in Childress with our teens, yet also traveling and meeting with churches for financial partnership. We hope this will be a self-sustaining business in the future, but until that time we are looking for people to stand in the gap with us. So far, 4 churches have agreed to support us as stateside missionaries. We are so grateful that they share in the vision God has given us. While we are thrilled for what we have received, we still need more funding. 

In order to make it work with what we have now, we would need to get part time jobs to support ourselves, therefore the mission work would not grow as quickly or healthily. Plus, this would cancel out the entire reason we are leaving Childress and youth ministry - to go ALL IN on this. We are looking for more financial partners so we can freely run the race marked out for us.
Young people are struggling with false messages, unending temptation, and constant distraction. Ministers, teachers, coaches, and anyone else who actively works with teenagers all know it is a jungle out there. We want to offer light, hope, peace, and truth in the madness of their day-to-day world. 

The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few, and this is a delicate field to work in. We are educated, experienced, full of compassion, and willing. If you are reading this, we want to thank you for taking interest in the mission of through Jordan. We have great hopes and dreams to where the Lord will take us on this journey. We deeply covet your prayers over these specific areas: 

1.) Our marriage. 

We know our enemy. He is ruthless and wants nothing more than to steal, kill, and destroy us and this work. Please pray protection from the evil one over us. 

2.) More financial support.

More times than not people want to give, they just aren’t always aware of the cause or opportunity to offer aid. Pray that the ones whom God has blessed financially might see our need and meet it. Consider us in your own missional giving/tithing. 

3.) Speaking Opportunities. 

The feedback we hear from the schools and churches we speak at is overwhelming and shows just how desperate teenagers are for this message! But we are growing as we go, and while the fire we envision will be vast, it’s only a small spark right now. Pray that awareness would multiply and opportunities to water the dry soil would increase.
